MFRI awarded grant to benefit Measuring CommunitiesThe Elizabeth Dole Foundation has awarded the Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) at Purdue University a recipient of a 2017 grant from the Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Fund.
The award will be used to benefit Measuring Communities, the landmark program created in partnership with the Purdue Center for Regional Development. Information captured on HiddenHeroes.org will be coupled with data provided by other organizations to create a fuller picture of the needs of the military caregiver along with the strengths and gaps in military family support in communities nationwide.
Measuring Communities is a social indicators initiative aimed at shaping community efforts to support military and veteran families. It aims to focus and propel community action, help communities track their progress, and sustain attention to military issues. “The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is supporting an innovative program that community leaders can use to understand their communities,” said Kathy Broniarczyk, director of family programs at MFRI. “We are very grateful for this opportunity from the Dole Foundation.”
